EL TOPACIO, FARALLONES NATIONAL PARK

About an hour away from the city center of Cali, near the village of Pance, at one of the access points to the Farallones National Park you will find the visitors center El Topacio. The center is run by the local environmental authority CVC. A friendly park ranger will give you information about the National Park while he takes you on a short walk to one of the waterfalls in the area. Around El Topacio like in the  rest of the Farallones bird watching is very good and you might spot the Andean Cock of the Rocks. It is also the starting point for the  Pico de Loro hike (about 7 hrs. up and down, guide required). To visit El Topacio you must get a permit from the CVC headquarters in Cali beforehand. At the Iguana Hostel we can help you to organize your excursion.
